After upgrading to B&W DM683s some time ago, and finding that any bookshelf-sized rear speakers are a definite falling hazard (due to room layout), I opted to use my floorstanding JBL LX 800 3-ways as rears in my HT setup. I have not been able to identify any ill effects or integration / coherence issues. I realise that there are supposed to be advantages to having similarly voiced speakers in a multi-channel setup. The question is whether the cost is offset by a huge perceived increase in sound quality or not. Comments?
