SME tonearm restoration. advice needed

I have a SME 3009 early model that is in fair condition.

Unfortunately it comes from Durban and the salt air has left nasty little pit marks al over the matt silver finish.

I've polished and cleaned it up with autosol and its looking better but I'm not happy. Can it be re-plated ? With  matt finish ?
