So I have done some testing in my completely over populated room tonight and have come up with some findings.

These findings are unbiased as I have paid my own hard earned cash for all of it and can therefore comment objectively furthermore I am not an Audiophile (I dont think so anyway..... I dont have a certificate or something) so just the opinion of normal man.

Bar area
PS3 HDMI into Denon X3000 pre out(Geco's tails) into Nad 902/Myryad 240 power amp into polk PSW12 and then into Polk Monitor 40's (NAD 902 vs Myryad240)

Maybe a little unfair matching the 120W RMS Myryad against the Nad's 30W RMS but funny enough the NAD as always surprised me immensely, lovely sound and control typical "warm" NAD sound and nothing to bright from this amp and baring the extremely high volume test the NAD was 95% as good as the Myryad and then when you get to "Drunk" mode then the Myryad just makes ease of the job. I'm still getting used to the Myryad but its a lovely sound and plenty of Oemph yes the speakers are probably not of the right level but the funny thing is that the Bar (fairly small room) with the Sub and bookshelf set up just works and with certain tunes makes you wonder if you need floor standing passive speakers especial at low volumes really fills the room. So Myryad the winner but not by as much as you would expect, maybe a different set up will make a bigger difference.

TV Room/lounge

PS3 HDMI into Denon X3000 Bi amped into Polk TRI A7's/B&W 603 s3's

Again a bit of a david vs goliath fight from a size perspective but interesting none the less, Bi-amping the Denon gives us a theoretical 210w RMS into the speakers so both driven with ample juice. After being used to the Polk's I could immediately sense a lack of low down punch and presence in this room (size  10m x 6m with double that leading out in open plan) then the B&W's start warming up and then settle it and get better and better as you listen, still I cant help and notice a lack of presence and then they just do some other things so much better like the detail, the sound staging and separation is just better, also not as harsh mids and tops.... the B&W's sound great.

I swap over sit down and run through the same tunes, You just know the Polk's are there...... granted they are probably 10 years younger than the B&W's but the bottom end, especially at low volume is just great I can enjoy it without my wife moaning about the noise or waking up the kids. I like that about them. Crank them up and again you can feel the pressure in the room but can be a little harsh in comparison to the B&W's up top.

Both are great with AV and do the job even without a SUB in this room. No clear winner here they both do the same thing in a different way ticking different  boxes but scoring the same 8/10 in my book.

More testing to be done though once I get the DAC I feel I should see some big improvements...

To be continued ...........
