Sometime in the not to terribly distant future I want to build a set of stereo speakers. As per norm my sonic ambitions are way higher than my budget....but I'm planning to spend +- R3000.
My listening space is the informal lounge, best described as cozy at 3.5x3.5, once the future fireplace and bookshelves are installed. Will probably have to make a plan to limit problems caused by the fireplace. Anyway, it is not avoidable to have one. WAF....

System: Pioneer dvdp, Mav Audio DAC and Topping TP60 50Wx2 (into 8 ohm) amp.

I like a lifelike sound and is no bass freak....but I would love to hear a bass guitar the way it was intended. Detail is important but not brightness.

Music taste vary, but excludes heavy heavy rock, dance, trance and is very irregular on popcorn pop. I do listen to rock like Nickleback, Live and the like, enjoy my acoustic guitar like Jack Johnson and Sunday classics and opera. Not adverse at all to female vocals-Norah Jones et al. Not to forget a bit of blues here and there.

I like the look of a floorstander and have been eyeing a 2way  design on Humblehomemadehifi (in keeping with the spirit of my system! :) ) based on Vifa drivers.

So....any and all advise will be appreciated! I've never build a speaker in my life but have
some woodworking tools and knowhow. Ideally I would like to build a prooven design and so limit my risk of messing it up... What should I be looking at and where should I stay away? Where do I go for drivers? Well, actually I know that one....

Thanks in advance for your wisdom and comments.
