I am aware of the reasons and use for using speaker stands for bookshelf speakers and also their placement requirements.
However, one question remains elusive. How does the design of the actual stand influence the sound? What I am getting at is, if a speaker stand has a solid surface in front of the front part of the stand, I am sure it will act as an extension of the speaker baffle and hence influences the low-frequency response? The question then follows, if it does influence the sound because the speaker baffle is now much larger, will it be a positive influence or negative?
Thoughts? Has anyone done some experiments or a link to a website perhaps?
