Does anybody know exactly how SQL Server 2008 R2 is licensed with regards to multiple instances? As far as i am aware 2008 allowed as many instances as you liked, but I cannot find that any reference document for 2008 R2. I know that R2 now only allows 4 active OSEs at a time, but that still doesnt answer the question as to how many instances you are permitted to run on the machine.

Any help finding a reference document for R2 with that info would be appreciated.

Cheers
