I?m considering procuring a new TV, and relegating the existing one to the games/play room for the little one.  I?m getting rather sick of my system being tied up with endless loops of Peppa Pig or the like.

Somewhere around the end of 2009 I think it was, I procured one of the these

I?ve been very happy with it, and it hasn?t put a foot wrong over the last six years or so.  Further to the issues with Peppa Pig, I?ve moved house and the 40inch is just too small.  The only thing that bugged me, was the (totally expected) ghosting on very fast moving objects.

Sadly failing currency, increasing personal costs and some speaker upgrades over the last 12 months are limiting me to about R15k.  Annoyingly I think I actually spent more on the previous unit?.

I might?ve been very happy with Samsung, but I?m not closed to alternatives

Utilization:

? TV watching is done via Netflix on my Xbox One, thus not to fazed by so called ?Smart? requirements. (anyone think I might be missing out on something here??)
? Xbox One gaming of course
? Blu-ray play back for concerts and occasional movies

Sounds quality from the TV is pretty irrelevant

Questions:

Previous TV was considered relatively high up the pecking order back in the day. Has LCD technology taken significant strides in the last few years, that mean that I do not need to spend R15k to get the same level of performance in a 50 or 60 inch unit?  Especially with reference to gaming?

Are acceptable 4k TV?s within my grasp?

Are UHD and 4k one and the same thing?

I?m thinking about something like these for example:

When I?ve narrowed my search a little I?ll start trying to do some in shop viewing, my experience with that is that they have super saturated and contrasted colours going nuts at you the whole time though.

Anyhow, thoughts appreciated here...
