Currently I have the Yamaha DSP-AZ1 AV amp coupled to a Boston speaker setup. Although when I bought it, my main objective was AV. I have since realised that stereo is still my no 1 priority. I am trying to plan a bit further ahead now in my future setup.
One idea is to keep the AZ1 and utilise it for AV duties and add a stereo preamp with bypass function to get better stereo in the same setup. On the other side, I am contemplating to get a lower range newer av amp/processor and separate power amps to replace the AZ1 (just for any new technology that comes with it) The main objective however remains to get as good a stereo setup I can, incorporated in this same system.
The reason I could keep the AZ1 is the fact that it does do the normal AV thing already and afaik the only thing lacking is HDMI which I also feel I don't need. But going with a later amp "might" give better processing? I am very unsure about the route to take. I don't want the fact that I like new toys, cloud my decision-making here.
Oh btw, just for incase anyone want to know, I will utilise a CD player and a network music player as source for my stereo set up.
Any suggestions?
