Yesterday i acquired a Jelco SA50 tone arm from a fellow forumite. I wired a RCA lead to it and even though all my continuity checks are 100% I get hum....
Thinking that it might be the internal wiring I rewired the arm. Still the hum does not go even though all continuity checks are 100%
There are two earth wires. One that comes from the arm-tube and one that is screwed into the base of the tone-am. Both checkout fine and if I test between the earth lead and anywhere (metal) on the arm I get continuity (with zero resistance).
I have changed leads, I have tried different head-shells (some hum more than others) and different cartridges but still no luck.
I am at a loss as to where else I can look. What am I missing?
