I've got a strange issue with my one sub. Watching two particular episodes of Breaking Bad on Netflix this weekend I noticed that my right sub was switching itself on and off repeatedly. I've viewed other content over the weekend and no issue at all. I'm not comfortable with the idea that this is a content only issue though as I just can't fathom how that could cause the sub to switch on and off.
Even if I switch off the sub's auto-on and just leave it active, it still does it. It seems fine with all other content though (even other episodes of Breaking Bad), very strange. What also bugs me is that the sub usually takes 8mins to switch off automatically, I can't understand how it could switch itself on and off in short intervals.
The fact that the other sub doesn't do it isn't much of an indication that something's wrong electrically either. Although they are essentially the same sub (Velodyne SPL-1000 Ultra), the sub on the right is one of the very first Velodyne Ultras, while the Ultra on the left came a little later, consequently there are differences in both construction and in operation, pertinently, the newer sub is far more sensitive when it comes to the level of input needed for activation.
The 3 year warranty on the electrical side of things has expired. I'm going to keep and eye on it and see if it was just some weird fluke, but I fear I may have to make a plan to get it repaired, which is a real inconvenience as I ordered it online and so would have to foot the shipping bill as well as the repair (and I'm not even sure it needs repairing).
