Very odd problem. Is it possible the two subs have different sensitivity settings? Not knowing all your other settings I would methodically go through it this way: 1. Check sub settings on the Denon (Sub vs Sub+mains) 2. Test it at a higher volume - maybe it is working but too soft to hear. 3. test the sub using a different source (other than the Denon) like your TV audio out for example. 4. Check that sub is not on "Auto" but on "On" - in case it is the auto-on switch that is faulty. 5. Check ground loop - connect amp back plate to sub back plate with a wire - while this is unlikely - it's easy enough to do - so why not. 6. Fiddle around with gain and frequency switches in case the fault is there and causes intermittent connection. If all doesn't work - then I would open it up and check the connection between the sub amp and the woofer and also test the woofer using a AAA battery (unplugged of course).
