Subwoofer placement

Hi there everybody, I hope ur all well.

I would like to ask yall a question about subwoofer placement, especially a down firing rear ported sub. How much differance in sound is there between a front facing, front ported sub and a down firing, rear ported sub. Specifically as far as placement goes? Lets say for example, if a front firing front ported sub sounded best in a certain position, would the down firing rear ported sound exactly the same in the same position as the other one? The sub in question is a Jamo E6 sub.
