I sold my front speakers not so long ago, B&W CM10 then later 703  S1, very good capable speakers. Water under the bridge.

I then took my surround speakers to do the front duty, which to my surprise I?m very happy with. For the front I know one has to match the LCR and currently these are matched.

So my question: for surround, how small or big do they need to be. What?s overkill? I would like to go modest.

Satellites ? Small Bookshelves? Or Another set of CM6 S2?

If going with satellites, eg M1s or VM1s, would they live up to the job (not be overpowered by 8? ceiling speakers?)

Currently running a 7.2 system with 3 speakers on the floor and 4 in-ceiling. Would like to go back to 5.2.4 hence this question?

I welcome any opinion.
