I recently met a guy who has some interesting DIY kit which he inherited from a family member.
This kit is not working properly and needs an overhaul.
Look at the following pics, discussion follows below.

"Reference" speaker kit

Topless - you can see the top box contains open baffle tweets (scanspeak) and mids. The box below contains a 10" woofer from what we can feel through the cloth (maybe a 12"):

Crossover - which sits just behind the open baffle midrange section on a flat panel
