It has the typical faults of this model which can be cured by a service and regular use. The rope that drives the linear tracking arm has become fouled with grease over the years. What is the best liquid to remove this? I have been using isopropyl alcohol which does remove the crud, but I'm not sure if the greasiness is being removed. Should I be using something else? Perhaps turps or some kind of thinners?

Even in its current state I have been very surprised at the sound quality for those who are wondering.
