Hi all. I came across a similar thread on avforums.com while I was in a search for, well... best surround sound on a dvd...
I though I should echo the question on the za's version of the forum.
Please note, unlike the already existing topic "Best DVD experiences...": http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,800.0.html
This one is strictly home theater surround sound, not video recordings. Blu-ray Disc can also be mentioned.
Yeah, please also mention the native sound format of the DVD/BD if you still remember it.
Right, I havent watched a lot of great sounding movies on home set up, so my list will be very short and in no particular order, except for the last movie, which reigns the best for me so far.
- The Transformers (still have to watch the second one) + The Flight of the Phoenix (DD), Lots of bass.
Im looking forward to watching the two movies above again with my soon to be finished -+20hz DIY sub ;D
- Taken (DD, I think. Gun shots in that movie are just something else) + Bourne Ultimatum (DTS), dynamics.
- Fight Club (DD). WOW!!! This has to be my reigning chap. The use of all 5 channels was so consistent through out the whole movie.
I was so, so impressed. Well mixed!!! I will take off my hat for a movie that will beat this one.
Interested in reading what others' favorites are.
