Being an old time vinyl listener from the early 70's until now I am becoming very disappointed in the cost of new decent vinyl on pressings that will last and not have the rice crispies sound from brand new vinyl that some of the forum members and I have experienced.
I therefore have become very selective in the vinyl pressings I purchase since I have albums purchased in the early 70's which are of a higher quality than certain brand new pressings of today.I attend the Vinyl Faires and have purchased some real gems at excellent prices which are brand new.
Today my daughter phoned me from Austria with whom I requested that she purchase a new Searching for Sugarman at a cost of 30euros.Not having to pay postage as she lands friday morning I regarded the cost as reasonable for a new album. She told me today that the album was sold however she did inform me she had purchased:
Searching for Sugarman 180gm vinyl deluxe 2 lp edition with DVD for 50euro's.Er I have the documentary on my PVR.This is crazy cost.R700 for a new album.I get the feeling that vinyl listeners are being ripped off and costs are becoming prohibitive in certain cases for a decent pressing.
