The joys of selling a great turntable to a beautiful young lady in her early twenties: I take out a very good LP, and play it for her. She frowns, and does not look happy. "It's not crisp" she says. I go and found a better record, and play that. She looks bewildered. "It's still not crisp" she says. I go and find my best audiophile recording, not really wanting to play it on a turntable with a sub-R2000 stylus, but I do want to make her happy. She shakes her head "Not crisp." I am about to give up, but ask her "Just how crisp does it have to be?" She says "Very crisp, like Rice Krispies - snap, crackle and pop." My jaw drops to the floor, I go and find an old well-worn Led Zeppelin LP and start playing it. The sound is beautiful, but there is a fair amount of surface noise. Immediately her face lights up "There it is! The crisp sound of vinyl! I am taking it." I close my mouth, and take the money. And give her the Led Zeppelin album, too. #vintage #vinyl #crispsound
