The Good the Bad and the Ugly of Mergers an Acquisitions

So we have seen this happing all over the past decade, even happened to the company I used to work for. What are your thoughts on the the advantages and disadvantages of mergers and acquisitions of audio/video companies?
Those that I am familiar with are:
Group A: Samsung Electronics/Harman Kardon/Mark Levinson/JBL/Lexicon....?
Group B: Fine Sounds/Sonus Faber/Mcintosh/Wadia/Audio Research/Sumiko....?
Group C: EVA Automation Group/ Bowers & Wilkins
Group D: Gibson Brands/Onkyo/Denon/Pioneer/Marantz
