Wow. This doesn't deserve to be sitting in this crappy thread.
(no disrespect Winslow  :))
Hey Alty, Can I suggest you repost in the vinyl and/or TT DIY thread? and we can continue this discussion there.
There are at least half a dozen serious TT builds underway right now.
Vinyl dead?  Right.  :EGrin:

Nice arm :)

Here is the (always changing) list:

All projects

The Logic turntable is the closest at the moment to getting to the bottom and crossed out...

What about the crossed out ones? Well, they have left the building...

Lenco L70 + Linn LV V + Grado MC+ Stereo Cartridge

Table: a hybrid between a Lenco B52 (motor and top-plate) and a Lenco L70 (bearing and platter)
Arm: Linn LVV procured from Waterhond
Cartridge: Grado MC+ stereo version from the 80's
Plinth: Fixed up B52 plinth (wood-wrapped, braced and sprayed)

Thorens TD165 + TP11 + Ortofon VMS20 MkII

Table: a hybrid between a Thorens TD166MkII (motor and arm) and a Thorens TD165 (bearing , chassis, suspension and sub-chassis). Platter has been polished, bearing cleaned and the suspension reset to a confident pistonic 10s bounce (that took a while)....
Arm: Thorens TP11 MkII 'Isotrack' arm... rebuilt the bias rest - stripped and cleaned the arm.
Cartridge: Ortofon VMS 20 MkII with a generic stylis with a conical tip. One of the best generics I have come across in terms of SQ and compliance matching to the original... Last in stock and the shop has now closed down  :'(
Plinth: 36mm Kiaat that is braced and rests on 30mm Vacromat bottom board. Finish is Woodoc 10 rubbed down to 'satin'. No dust cover.

Almost done (just waiting for an arm from eBay  :OMG: ):

Logic DM101 - First spin (sans tonearm cable)
