At present, the risk of reinfection is unclear but it seems unlikely. The current RT-PCR tests are not perfect so it is possible that infected patients tested as negative while they still had COVID-19. Or perhaps no follow up testing was done in all the haphazardness in recent weeks? In other words, patients were simply discharged once they started to look and feel fine even though they hadn't fully recovered. Moreover, it is unknown how quickly COVID-19 will mutate.
