Thorens TD150 MK 11 - No Arm Earth??

One of these turntables are here for making replacement rider and bias weights. The hon alternativeroute kindly let me weigh the missing bits and on trying the turntable with the Shure cartridge fitted, it has no sound and hums like my razor.

I then swopped cartridges with one of my own MM cartridges but the hum persists.

I cleaned the corroded connectors from cartridge pins to armlead plugs and the hum persists.

I also noticed there's no arm earth lead for connecting to my amp earth tag. Is this the way they work?
