Dear All,

As funds are a little limited I am looking at what I can do with my current kit to improve performance....

Hence I have a couple of questions!

Firstly, I drive my front speakers (B&W 601 S3 standmounters) off my Rotel RA-1060.
The speakers are bi-wired at the speaker end, going into a common end on the amp side. The amp has A+B speaker connections, would it be worth wiring the tweeters to one speaker terminal set and the woofers to the other and playing the amp with A+B?

Secondly, my pre-amp is a Marantz AV amp - SR4600, I am not sure whether to set the fronts to large or small? They can go lower than 80hz (but not by much!) and the lowest crossover setting is 80hz on the amp. I am not sure how this would affect sound as the Boston PV700 sub, with a 12 inch driver may or may not be the fastest or most musical sub around! I could also plug the sub line out into the 'use internal crossover' input on the sub, set the crossover to somewhere that possibly integrates better (60-75hz?) and in bass management set the fronts to large and the bass to mix (leaving internal av amp XO at 80hz) to use the sub as well, especially when playing stereo music. Would this give me a similar sound to using floorstanders? I.E. using the sub to fill in the lower registers that that 601's can't reach?

Thanks for any advice,

Anthony
