Been experimenting for a while and for me, the most successful combination appears to be:
Connect a USB audio capture cable to the "tape out" of the pre-amp (rather than use a lead to the mic/line input on the sound card)
Use Audacity in 32 bit float mode at 192KHz
Record the tracks one at a time. This gives you time to change the name in Audacity to something meaningful
After saving the project in Audacity, export the audio files to FLAC
The FLAC files can be played back from a USB port on the PC using an external DAC for the best results
To create a SACD disc, use the program Philips Sonic Studio and write it to a DVD
An earlier version of Sonic Studio would not read FLAC files, they had to be converted to 24 bit WAV files using Korg Audio Gate
Anyone have any alternative or better results?
