I finally managed to get around to picking up my W-38. After a quick fuse replacement the amp powered up immediately but soon after popped one of the caps! It' seemed to have been a cap between the power cable connector and a point on the transformer. I connected up a test speakers and plugged in my iPad as a source. The sound does make its way through to the speakers - but is horribly distorted and crackly. There is also subtle hum. The headphone jack produces the exact same issue except for the hum being a lot more pronounced.

The knobs and front plate have been washed, the inside's been blown clean and "electro-kleened". There actually wasn't a lot of dust and gunk. Fortunately it was stored in a box.

As  part of the refurb, I would like to change all the caps and potentially determine the health of the valves. Is there a way to figure this out? The valves all light up and give off an interesting aroma.  Not sure if the smell is normal or if its due to the fact that they have been dormant for such a long time. This is my first valve anything - so this is completely new territory.

Ill start sourcing cap's later this week. So far the list is as follows:
0.01uf @ 600v  x 5
0.02uf @ 600v x 1 (the popped cap)
0.05uf @ 600v x 15
25uf @ 10v x 6

There is also wires that come out of the input/output panel. These are terminated with what appear to be speaker connectors? This is weird considering that the back side also has left and right speaker connectors. Anyone know what these are for?
