I'm in the process of installing a 25mm PVC conduit in my wall to accomodate a HDMI cable that will from from ceiling to skirting board, where the AV kit, preamp etc. is located. As the room has been stripped bare my thinking is to use a circular junction box located so that it is in the middle (heightwise) of a 140mm skirting board and have a sufficiently large circle cut out of the skirting to enable the HDMI connector to pass through. This way there's no need for an on wall or above skirting junction box for the HDMI cable, instead just a small hole in the skirting from which the HDMI cable emerges.
Thoughts - sensible option or are there better alternative out there?
Doing something similar for speaker and LAN cables - cut a gully into the concrete floor, install conduit, refill gully with cement, terminate in a circular junction box and make holes in skirting to enable cables to emerge from behind skirting.
