Been playing around some with the new sonosubs and am glad with how they're sounding in the room. Thanks Robert & Anton for joining and helping yesterday.
For music I use FIR filters which for my listening position sorts out almost any FR anomalies other than dips in frequency response or where there is excess phase. The treatment made a massive difference here, but the absorption tapers off below 50Hz so the remainder was addressed with some EQ at modal frequencies.
This is the progression of EQ tuning, first to tame the 50Hz region and then tuning out three modes (30, 50 and 60). Finally the 20Hz mode was addressed by blocking one port (on one sub), et voila 2/3rds of an octave extra extension.
The measurements are completely unsmoothed slow sweeps.
I will likely apply a shelving filter in the very low bass for HT (none for music) and may block up the other sub's port to lower tuning.
