This weekend I wanted to show-off my home mde bass-traps to my boet, (build for the son's drum practice room). So I put them behind my speakers, and insert Jenifer Warnes 'Way Down Deep' into my cdp. Turn up the volume, (fairly loud I must admit), and there was a distortion in the bass that I've never experienced on my setup before, only one side. First thing that went through my mind is that the bass driver got damage at some point. By closer look, we found that the distortion was more of a 'port noise' on my one speaker. So we looked inside with a tourched, and found that for some experiment long ago, I stuffed the ports lightly with 'batting' - only a small piece actually. I just left it there, and now the one piece fell in, with the port now being open.

I then took out the batting on both speakers with a piece of wire, and the distortion was present on both speakers. Put the batting back, and its gone. The bass response are not changed much though ay all.

I thought it might be a usefull tip for those that experience port noise  ;)
