We've all been there when some one ropes us in as the resident "expert" and then wont let go.
This happened recently to a friend who was asked to help out a friend of his with a noisy TT set up, and it's now become his problem to solve.
The set up is a Marantz TT directly into a Marantz A/V receiver with a built in phono stage.
Everything works properly when set up at AVSA.
This got me thinking that there is possibly an earth issue at the owners house.
How do we check for this?
If it is an earthing issue (both TT and AVR use 2 pin plugs so no earth on the power leads) would it be advisable to run a wire from the TT and connect it to a separate earth?
Could there be induced noise? It's difficult to move the phonostage as its built in to the AVR.
Any other suggestions.
Thanks
Joel
