Thorens manuals (on-line) recommend an undisclosed quantity of long off-the-market Caltex Regal Oil B, while the several forums visited suggested an interesting variety of substitutes ... motor oils of various viscosity, auto transmission fluid, 3-in-1 oil, Singer machine oil and gun oil to name a few.
