I am busy servicing this lovely old CEC (totally a Pioneer!) idler drive turntable, and there is a problem with the power on/off switch.
The speed selector (16-33-45) has, between the 3 speeds, a "rest" position. When in this position, a contact switch opens and cuts off power to the motor. When a speed is selected, the contact switch closes and power is supplied to the motor.

The motor runs beautifully and the contact switch opens and closes exactly as it should. However, even when open, the motor keeps on running. In the picture below A is the one mains power lead going to the switch, B is the contact switch, C is the power lead going from the switch to the motor, and D is a thing (sorry, I have no electronic knowledge) that bridges both ends of the switch. When I use a multi meter on both ends of this thing, I get a solid tone - so, basically, it seems to be "cutting out the functionality" of the switch!

Is this broken, and needs to be replaced? What is it? Can I not just remove it completely? If I need it, and it is broken, is this a Mantec part?
If this is not the problem, what do I look at next?

All advice greatly appreciated.
