When you switch it off using its power button, then proceed to spin it manually, the sound you get through the speakers, is perfectly normal, save for the pitch.
This brings me to the next question which influences upgrades. If this is the case, it suggests that there are virtually no electronics between the stylus and the phono inputs in the amplifier. All the electronics do in a TT is turn the platter and nothing else.
So, upgrading power supply is a complete waste of money. It means, if I get a Linn LP12 tonearm assembly and stick it in my Linn Axis, I effectively have a Linn LP12 sound through a Linn Axis.
What do the fundis say?
