We're currently using a 51" Samsung plasma TV which I bought for around 8.5k around 5 years back. It packed up a week or so out of warranty and after being repaired via an extended warranty program I took out on purchase it's still working 100% ... so little real need for change and a 1st world problem in a 3rd world cuntry.
I can now buy a 60" 1080p Samsung plasma TV (PA60H5000) for R9,899 including delivery. 51" to 60" is quite an increase in footprint and easily accommodated in our lounge. Looking at its power consumption though, it's 280W whereas a Samsung UA58H5200ARXXM 58'' Series 5 appears to consume only 85W but will probably cost considerably more than the 10k mooted above.
Would you make the switch, and if so, would you opt for the plasma or the LCD?
