After my Jag got written off , I decided to use UBER and not drive at all...
Uber is safe as you see vehicle and driver details and no cash changes hands (Apart from a tip..I tip good drivers)

I use UberX .., stuff like honda Brio sedans , nissan almeiras , sonics , polos and the like
I have become an expert on class a/b vehicles

Never had to wait more than 7 mins for a ride

Totally stressless!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting to talk to the drivers .. tanzanians , somalis , rwanda , zim , capies, etc..a diverse culture..today had a lady driver .. told me all about her 3 sons .....
You dont have to talk either

Anyway , my "must do" daily driving is to work and back , in off peak traffic hours , 14km one way .. Uber cost is R100 each way..so R200.00 .. includes a stop at the garage shop in the morning for bioplus and espresso

If I want to go anywhere else , like shopping , I take an uber.. normally R150 return

My wife has a car , so when we go out as a family , she drives , my daughter has a car and I have a driver from work.. so between the 3 , I can normally get a ride pronto

So to break it down , it costs me around R1300 a week or less , to use Uber
R5k a month .. and I can claim it as a work expense , which it mainly is..

Owning a car in the R250k mark , which would be my budget .. is way more expensive than R5k a month..

So overall , im impressed by uber , it makes the commute a lot better
I dont miss not owning a car.. I do still have my corvette which I take to the corner cafe once a week..
