Hey Guys,
Let me apologise at the onset for asking questions which I am sure many of you are tired of hearing! I did a search , but did not come up with what I am after. Right here goes...
I am a very new noob that after reading through the froum over the last couple of days, realised that I have absolutly no idea what I am doing and on top of that have even less idea which direction I was/am heading in terms of my setup. The setup will be used mainly for movies and games with the odd braai/entertainment evening thrown in, but ultimately I am after a decent home theatre.
I have a small setup consisting of a AV reciever,PS3, standard DSTV and 5.1 speaker setup.
Well at the moment the sub is not connected as I am not too sure how to connect it to be honest( but more on this later)
I am not too impressed with it but I am pretty sure it is down to me not knowing how to actually set the system up, which brings me to the questions that are keeping me awake at night...
What is the best way for a noob to learn how to setup a home theatre system?
What is needed in terms of hardware for a decent home theatre system?
Are pre-amps, power amps and processors needed to get the best out of the speakers? And if so..
How does one configure or place the equipment in the system to get the best out of the individual units?
I do realise that all facets of HT cannot be explained in a couple of Q & A's but I am at a loss here and need a bit of direction.
Perhaps there is a place or person that I could go to that can explain in more detail the basic idea behind HT that you guys could point me towards?
Thanks in advance!
Adrian
