So it is time for an Amp and CD Player upgrade for the stereo system (Quad 21Ls and Jamo C80 Sub).
The system will be used 99% for classical music and music like Dire Straits.
I have been fiddling with some ideas and really need some input from all the Audiophiles out there!
Now I have looked at some components and I am particularly interested in the Marantz PM6003. Is this a good amp? Is there better available in the ~R7.5k price range?
Then moving on the the CD Player I am thinking about one of 3 options:
1) SACD player (~R10k)
2) Normal CD Player and save some Cash (~R6k)
3) Invest in a Dacmagic + Netbook + Storage (~R10k)
Is an SACD player worth the extra cost? Should I invest in something like a Marantz SA7003 (~R10k) or rather save some money and buy a cheaper CD Player? With the Dacmagic I can rip all my music to Flac and have the convenience of never changing CDs ever again. Would this rival the sound quality of a 6-7k CD player or is it a stupid idea?
