After purchasing this dac a while back:

and comparing synchronous with asynchronous I can say that asynchronous does make a huge difference. To be honest I could not believe the difference listening to the same song via itunes(synchronous) and foobar(asynchronous).
Up to now above mentioned DAC was the only affordable DAC that did asynchronous.
Now I see that the HRT streamer is also doing asynchronous.
I know Croak was looking at getting distributorship but have a look at this review:
