My fan motor and resistor have packed up within 6 months of buying my car.
There is a long story about taking it to the agents who charged me for diagnostics which I had already had done- and given them the fault code.
I knew that wasn't the problem. Sent them instructions on how to test the apparently faulty part of the HVAC module (thank you 4x4 community).
They took it back and confirmed as much (no charge for that).

Here's where I'm at, after several earlier mails and calls:
"Good morning Lee and Byron

I waited, checking daily, for a week for repairs to my vehicle.
Eventually I had to take it to *****(their Auto electrician who was at their workshop, 3km from me, almost every other day, who's premises are 40km from me) who have ascertained the fault and ordered a resistor and will repair the seizing fan motor before I leave on a trip tomorrow.
Excellent service, but two unnecessary trips for me.

My understanding is that this is covered under the mandatory six month warranty.

Bear in mind that I have already paid for (misleading)  diagnostics which is also covered by the warranty.

If I pay ****** I will expect a full refund from ^^^^^.

Please confirm your agreement.
If you are not in agreement please state clearly your reasons, being mindful that I will take the matter further."

The response:
"Good day Adrian,

Thank you for your email and I am glad that they could assist you.

The fault on your vehicle will be for your own account unless you have purchased an extended warranty, they may pay a portion if not the whole bill.

As a dealership we do not give a 6 month warranty on a vehicle, we give a 30 day warranty on the engine, gearbox and differential.

If you do not have an extended warranty and would like to purchase one then please let me know and I will have my finance manager call you."

I've read the relevant bits of the CPA and, if any defects are discovered within six months of the date of sale, in accordance with Chapter 2, Section 56 of the CPA, I have the right to insist on repair, replacement or refund for the vehicle.

Am I right/wrong/ wasting my time? I'll be over R4k out of pocket...
