Been meaning to post this for a while but haven't made time. The other day I was using my heat gun and thinking how often I use it, how long I've had it and how much value or use I get from it; and thought it might help others starting out with building a tool kit if we posted a ranking of the most useful versus most useless (or least used) tools we own.
Useful tools:
Heat gun
Magnifying glasses
Screw drivers - needed for just about everything
I have a battery powered impact screw driver that has worked hard for years - almost an essential
lots of pliers of various sizes and shapes
small socket set
Multi meter
soldering iron
Plunge saw - not used that often, but an amazing tool when needed
Miter saw - used more often than the plunge saw, mainly for convenience
clamps - essential
handy little electric saw that also isn't used much but is great when it is
Not very often used:
Dremel
Welder (I don't like welding)
Air compressor (I suck at spray painting)
Lathe and chisels (one day I hope)
Bandsaw
Hammers - but you have to have at least one
Hacksaw
Big socket set
