This morning I bought some 450 valves all NOS in original boxes. The trick was I did not know what was all there, but took a chance anyway.
Included in the package was this weirdy:
This is a Philips Voltage Regulator, 4496. Never seen this type before, I am more familiar with the 85A2 type as well as others, all in smaller B7G packages. I'm keen to fire this one up, might be worthwhile just to see the glow - purple, green, orange?
Now, if anybody feels like building an audio amplifier using EL86 (not EL84) or EL90/EL91, talk to me! A small quantity of EZ40 rectifiers is definitely useful. There are quite a few ECH81 valves as well.
No normal audio valves like EF86, ECC83/12AX7 series, 6L6, EL34 KT66/88 unfortunately, which is what I was hoping for.
Thank goodness the holidays are over, back to work on Monday and no more browsing the net to buy stuff that I really don't need. It took me over an hour to clear packing space for these.
