Vintage cd players...have we moved on?

I'm interested to know your opinions on early favourites any fellow forumites may still be using...lets say 80's and 90's units.I was recently given a Marantz cd85 by a friend.Needed a transport clean up, some new feet and thanks to "alternative route"some fresh new kiaat cheeks...the build quality is in my non technical opinion a joy to behold and it does not take knowledge of rocket science to see that they simply dont build 'em like this anymore.Opamps appear to have be changed to some burrbrown units...and the sound.....WOW!!!These modern plastic lightweights offer no pride of ownership.....now lets pray for the cdm's longevity.Anyone familiar with one of these?
