I read much about these speakers on other onternational forums and all are full of praise for manyu models especially JBL L 100. I had a friend who owned a pair and another who owned the orginal 4310 studio monitor. The bass on both these was impressive (12" drivers) and they were generally very lively and great fun to listen to: very involving and enjoyable. Not sure they were really good for all types of music but certainly did well on Jazz and light classical and especially rock.
Was there a dealer and a distributer in SA in the late 70's and 80's? Any enthusiasts who still use vintage JBL (not modern stuff). They certainly have a worldwide following but I think they did not reach our shores in big numbers or we in SA did not like American / japanese stuff back then, too strongly influenced by the British hi fi press, "British is best".
Please keep me posted on JBL vitage stuff if there are any users in this forum.
