Fellow Vinyl forum members...
hoping to get a gauge from those of you that spend money on this magical black plastic (new & old)...
when buying new vinyl, How many of you purchase internationally via Discogs (or other platforms) or via local online platforms & in store? how often do you order new vinyl? do you order pre-owned vinyl online (or only purchase 2nd hand in stores & at vinyl fairs)?
let's say there was a potential service that shipped once a month from the following (week 1 UK, week 2 Netherlands, week 3 Germany, week 4 Portugal) & you had an opportunity to order records either from discogs (depending where you're ordering from you could have it sent to this service & then have your order sent to you via one shipment from that specific country once a month to save on shipping fees (either until you have an order big enough to bring shipping costs down or to have your purchases grouped together with others' orders & then sent in one bulk shipment let's 5, 10, or 15 records) it could mean you may have to wait for your order if you group with other orders (so wait till the number of records has been reached
all for a % fee of your order (a sort of admin fee for either handling, signing for, storing & holding until ready to ship, then further shipment to SA) as opposed to a markup on the shipping
& on months you are not making you own purchase for a quarterly/annual fee you get let's say a selection (based on your choices of what you do or don't like) of new records
would this be something you'd use? so as to avoid unnecessary delivery fees from overseas (if you're only ordering 1 new record a month), would you use on adhoc basis (so only when you order from overseas? would you see value in this with a bundled quarterly subscription where you get 3-5 new records every quarter?
if shipping was more reasonable due to costs being split, would you order more records a month? and would be willing to wait for your order to come shipped together?
