Due to the recent sale of 2 or 3 Wadia 171i transports on the forum, my interest in the device was piqued. So after a little investigation, I realized it was in fact just what I needed and hence I bought one yesterday. It has opened a whole new avenue of enjoyment of my music library.
Instead of being limited to using my iPod via the earphones only, I can now send quality audio to my hifi setup. The Wadia extracts the digital files from my iPod and feeds it into the dual Wolfson DACs of my Nad C 565BEE CD player via an optical Toslink cable. I had long wanted to make use of the DACs in the player other than just for playing CDs or mp3 files on a flash drive which can be plugged into the usb port. I am now getting a much fuller use of the Nads facilities and capabilities. Very happy chappie.
PS: Added bonus... the iPod gets charged whilst using it, yay.
