Some of you might have seen my thread where I put up my Merc for sale. That thread is now closed as I did buy a car at a local garage. My car was traded in. Today I am told the car I bought must get 4 new tires, as it failed the roadworthy test. I allready paid in full for the car, no bank loan was made. Now I am asked to fork out nearly R9000.00 for the new tires, otherwise they are prepared to pay back my money and cancel the deal. Can they do this? How can a garage expect the buyer to make their car roadworthy on the buyers expense? That after the car was paid... They are a well established garage, not a fly by night. I allready told everyone I bought the car, now I must tell them all the deal is off, how embarrassing.
I had to try very hard as my father wants to make a case open against them at the Motor Union as we as buyers are protected by the consumer protection act. Was I suposed to let him do that? I am very angry, but mostly dissapointed.
What would you have done in this scenario?
