Welders/welding

Hi peeps.

I have been contemplating the purchase of a welding setup. I've never owned one. The last time I welded was at high school, where I enjoyed oxy-acetylene gas welding most (easier to learn, IME). But now... I want to buy the right welder for the right reason. I'll be welding square tubing for a start. I guess you could say I'd be a weekend welder (in terms of how much welding I'd be doing).

So, let's hear your opinion and experiences... any preference?
