From the topic I started on the upgrade path preamps came up highly recommended as one of the important components on the chain. In my simple world I always thought a preamp is just an input selector and volume controller but it looks like it?s not. So simply put my question is what makes a good preamp? What goes into the making of a preamp that would make a preamp to not just be an input selector and volume controller?
