My mother won a diamond ring in a competition recently. It is valued (by the company who ran the competition) at R40 000. It is possibly not worth that much in just the raw materials though. It is a beautiful thing, and the design most probably makes up some of the value.
She wanted me to list it on Gumtree, which I thought was a bad idea because of all the scams, especially with something easy to move like jewelry.
She would like to get R22 000 out of it, which is possibly not unrealistic, but I have no idea of what the best course of action is for her. What do you guys think?
