I took my daughter and niece to the One Direction concert on Saturday and experienced a rather unsavoury incident. I wanted to run it by you guys as it has been bugging me like crazy.
We arrive at what is supposed to be our seating and find it occupied by a middle aged guy and 4 children that were with him. The conversation goes something like this.
Me: "Mmmm looks like we're in the wrong place, sorry."
Him (Smiling and pretty jovial): "No worries, it happens."
Me: "Would you mind double checking your tickets though because I'm pretty sure my ticket says Row L, Seat 15."
This is when he changed completely
Him (Face now showing visible signs of anger): "What? I'll double check you. What do you think?"
He proceeds to whip out his tickets but I'm too shocked by his behaviour to look at it thoroughly, I just notice that it does say Row L, Seat 15.
Me : "Ok, looks like you're right"
Him (Shouting): "Yes I know. I'm always right."
By then my daughter notices what's going on and asks me to move on as this guy seems irrationally irate and ready to fight. So I move on seeing as he's with children and I don't want them to witness any unpleasant fracas.
His behaviour does not go unnoticed by the people around him and as we're trying to attract the attention of one of the ushers to help us find our seats a guy seated behind the angry man attracts my attention and tells me "He's in the wrong seat". What had happened was that a lady seated in front of him followed up on my behalf and ascertained that he and his 4 children were sitting in the wrong block. He walks by us saying he was wrong and we were right and proceeds to his correct seating.
This guy was with 4 children who looked no older than 12. He was reeking of alcohol. To say I was seething is an understatement but I just bit my tongue and kept my fists holstered.
How would you have handled the situation?
