Whatever happened to CARVER ?

I remember in the late 80's at the audio video hifi shows, i loved the carver equipment, always wanted to get a carver something!!  Now carver is gone am i right?  looks like he merged or had shares to sunfire - but now no longer...sad, cause i think they had potential - reminds me of the story of detroit...
